CONDUCTOR-IN-RESIDENCE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) has announced German conductor, Kevin John Edusei, as their Conductor-in-Residence for the 2025/26 season.
Following a successful debut with the RPO in 2021, Edusei returns for a series of performances throughout the season when he will explore a diverse range repertoire including works by Samy Moussa, Gabriella Smith, Strauss, Sibelius and Bartok. These concerts will feature collaborations with fellow Intermusica artists Boris Giltburg, Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha and Makoto Ozone.
When asked what excites him most about his new role with the RPO, Kevin replied:
"It has to be the opportunity to collaborate with this outstanding group of musicians over the course of a complete season and to contribute to the artistic vision of the orchestra. When I worked with the Orchestra for the first time in the 2021/22 season, I found it astonishing how sensitively they reacted and entered into a lively musical dialogue. I'm now very much looking forward to deepening this experience.
The RPO has an incredible ability to connect with audiences across diverse venues and communities. I’m particularly eager to explore new repertoire, create inspiring musical experiences with fantastic soloists, and engage with their audience."
This residency follows an exciting season in which Edusei made debuts with the New York Philharmonic, Konzerthausorchester Berlin and at the Musikverein with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra. He also returned to Queen Elizabeth Hall with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw with Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the ZatertagMatinee series.
